Welcome to Carp Hunter Baits

Here you will find all the information about our egg free range of baits for Carp and Barbel.

Why No Eggs?

We don't use any eggs to bind our boiled baits, neither do we use any egg related products in our base mixes. The reason for this is that eggs have been used in boilies to bind them for more than 25 years and I think the wily old carp no this as danger and they are not as digestible as we may think. This can be a problem for cold water carping even with wheat germ in the base mix. When you think about a standard boilie it contains 40% to 45%egg, that's some signal being given off even when you try to smother it with chemical flavourings and attractants, you just cannot hide it.

We at Carp Hunter Baits have decided to go down an entirely different road, totally natural and totally organic baits that are designed around the Carps natural diet.

All our baits have been thoroughly field tested over a 2 season period (minimum) to test their long term attraction to the Carp. We test on "proper" Carp lakes not overstocked hauling waters where anything will catch.
1st stage testing is normally done by one of our close friends or ourselves. This takes place normally on RMC's Kingsmead 1 and sometimes on DDAPS waters in the Darenth Valley which saw some of Fred Wiltons first boilies in the early 70's. We can normally get a good response to a new bait from these waters.
2nd stage testing is then taken on by our field test team who fish a variety of waters around the country including RMC's Horton Church Lake and The Road Lake, only when a bait has gone through both stages of testing will it be released for general sale.

All our base mix ingredients are supplied to us by the excellent C.C.Moores, where possible all our base mix ingredients are totally organic, human food grade, and they contain NO Egg products to our knowledge.
We use C.C.Moores so that we get the freshest possible ingredients. We do not store any dry ingredients ourselves we leave it to the professionals. When you order bait from our designated rollers you know that it is the freshest and best possible quality that can be bought. We have found that if we keep to the above, the long term effectiveness of our baits is greatly enhanced and the baits go on and on, just ask the boys on the Road Lake and Kingsmead 1. Our K1 bait is still catching well after three seasons of continual use.

Storage Of Bait

Your bait will be delivered freshly frozen in a polystyrene box, if it is not totally frozen when it arrives don't worry, it can be refrozen, no problem.frostie.jpg (18821 bytes) This has been tested over a couple of seasons, in fact we often refreeze bait left over from sessions. Remember though if you see green mould on the bait, throw it away. If the bait develops a white powdery coating it is fine to use, our field testers prefer it this way and will often take bait out of the freezer a day before fishing to let this phenomenon occur, the white powder is caused by free forming amino acids that are breaking the bait down on a biological level, most of the big carp I have caught have come to baits like this, I call them bon bons.
