With only a 20 man syndicate this is a place for peace and quiet where fish can be seen feeding in the clear weedy water very close to the bank. Which I find absolutely fascinating. The richness of this water has to be seen to be believed. Loads of swan mussel, snail and bloodworm the fish have a natural diet where they can grow without the need for anglers baits. Some of the stockies introduced are showing a 7lb weight increase in just 10 months! Which I think is absolutely fabulous. The carp in this venue do not visit the bank on a regular basis with probably a third of the stock not gracing the bank in any one season. Its a tough venue where most of the syndicate only manage a couple of fish each season. The fish do respond to floating baits and a couple of fish were caught by Terry Hearn this way in the 2003/4 season. Well done Terry.
The stock consists of 42 known carp of which 12 are stockies. Of the
original stock the prize is the "Big Dink" which has been out at
over 40lb. Then comes "Clover" at 38lb+, "Pinch Belly"
at 36lb+ and "3 Scales" at 36lb+ also. With another 5 carp at
30lb+ that's, some carp in 2½
acre's. All these fish have made these weights on natural food which is
pretty amazing in this day and age.
Of the other 30's two are proper linear's, one with a top weight of 37lb the
other low thirtys. Add to that a fully scaled thirty and I think you'll
agree there are plenty of target fish to go at! Unfortunately there are no
big commons with the biggest being mid twentys. Most of the commons having
survived the Longfield netting when Horton was originally stocked some
years ago, the "Woodcarving" in Horton came from the Road Lake
as well as "Lumpy" who now resides in "Crayfish Pool".
The Road Lake has plenty of history, of which R.M.C. can be rightly proud.
Some local rules apply to this venue which are there to protect the
stock firstly, and to allow ALL syndicate members an equal chance of
catching these fabulous prizes.
A 48 hour rule is in place on this venue, this is so every angler gets a
chance to fish the productive areas. With only 12 swims this seems pretty
sensible to me.
No baiting up when leaving the venue. This is a courtesy rule, its not
nice to see an angler through 50 Kilos of bait in the snags before he
leaves, effectively keeping the fish there untill his return! 1 Kilo of
bait a day is usually more than enough on this venue.
Lastly there is a close season on this venue from 31st March through till
the 1st June. Please respect this, no visits out of season. If you are
caught you will be banned from ALL R.M.C. venues for life!
If you are lucky enough to fish this superb venue, respect it, you are very fortunate. Good luck to you all.
Visit R.M.C. Angling.

I would like to make it quite clear that not all the fish in the
pictures and videos were caught on Carp Hunter Baits. This page is just a
reference source for the venue and unrelated to the Bait
Page.
